I was talking to Dad at dinner last night and he told me a little story:
You see, my parents have a website. The URL is http://somethinghere.inkshop.org/. My mom is not incredibly computer savvy. Forgetting exactly how the URL is supposed to look, my mom types somethinghere@inkshop.org. This is basically the equivalent of visiting http://inkshop.org, which, if you didn’t know, is my “website”. Of course, I am a lazy revjim, and never actually finished creating my own personal website… therefore, http://inkshop.org/ just points to my LiveJournal page. My mom sees the page, and doesn’t quite understand what it is, or why is it there in place of her website, so she calls for Dad. Dad explains to her what she did wrong and what it was that she was looking at. My mom then places a link to it on her desktop, to make it easy to return to. Dad deletes the link, and informs her that if she’s going to read it, she needs to be well prepared for what she might see.
That’s pretty much all I got from him. Dad has always known I had this… and, as far as I know, he has pretty much steered clear of it. I think Mom, however, would read it often if she remembered it was here and how to get to it. I am not sure how I feel about Mom (or Dad) reading this yet.
Hi, Mom!!
