the week ahead

I'm very tired, but I'm actually looking forward to going to work today. Yesterday, my new employee started work. In one day he did more real work then most of the other people on my team do in an entire week. Not only did he set up a data replication process to handle replicating all of our web data automatically on a nightly basis, he also got our database servers acting in a mutual primary/slave relationship allowing either of them the replace the other in the event of an outage. Granted, this isn't incredibly difficult work, but it was stuff I didn't have time to do, and couldn't trust anyone else to figure out without loads of guidance. I am very excited to see what he will do today. Unfortunately, I have to do all of that crappy new employee paper work today, which is something I don't think I'll ever get used to.

jaclyn leaves for Seattle tomorrow. I wish I were going with her. Tonight, I am helping her run errands, pack her bags, buy gifts, and make sure everything is in line before she leaves.

This Friday is Nicki's going away party. After living here for two years, she is going back to Chicago. Even though her and I didn't see a lot of each other, I am really going to miss her when she's gone. I am not sure exactly what is planned for the evening, but I am heading over there right after work.

I have to call Amanda tonight to make plans for either tomorrow or Thursday night. She wants me to come over and hang out with her and Royce. I'm not really looking forward to spending an extended period of time with him. He is one of those "Captain Cool" cocky asshole types. Fun for the whole family.

On Saturday, Lisa, Mike and peener are most likely having their "thank-god-school-is-out" get together. Parties with them are always fun because they know how to goof off and have a good time. We generally end up talking about all sorts of weird stuff, playing cards, and then, once he gets drunk enough, listening to Mike make up crazy songs about "hippies and gay guys" on the guitar. Most assuredly a good time.

I am avoiding phone calls from Jolie like the plague. She is a user. She comes crawling out of the woodwork whenever her marriage or her job is not doing so well. She will make claims like "I have loved you for 12 years", ask me if I would ever consider living with her and attempt to borrow a couple thousand dollars. She has been calling on the average of four times a day on my cell phone and twice a day at work. I have answered a few of them, unfortunately.

I need to get over to my brother's place sometime this week, and get some stuff from him to ship to foxyred along with the stuff I have for her as I told her I would do while in NYC.

It will be a busy week.
