uptime

One of our servers in California was rebooted last night after 577 days of uptime. It appears the machine could no longer speak to the network and the administrator of that box felt it would be easiest to just reboot it.

For those who are curious, the server is a small Alpha 433au with 128MB RAM running Digital Unix 4.0D. It acts as a NFS file server, an Apache web server and runs scheduled tasks for our users in the California area.

Yay for UNIX.

On another note… the nightly system scheduled reboot of one of our NT servers failed last night due to the machine being so locked up the only way it would go down was a hard reset. This server runs Windows NT 4.0 and acts as a file sharing server, and generates reports on a nightly basis.

Yay for Windows NT. pffft.
