EXPLOSIVE DEVICE DISCOVERED AT SOUTHWEST REGION HEADQUARTERS BUILDING (2001-05-25 14:59)

This morning, at Verizon’s Southwest Region Headquarters building (the former Texas/New Mexico Headquarters) a contract employee discovered a suspicious object in the parking garage. Verizon Security and local law enforcement authorities were immediately notified. At the same time, employees were safely evacuated from both the building and parking garage area.

Upon investigation by the Irving Police Department Bomb Squad it was determined that the object was an explosive device. The device was safely detonated.

Early this afternoon, after authorities completed their security sweep of the building and determined the building was safe to re-enter, employees were allowed to return to the building. All operations have now returned to normal at the building.

Security personnel at all Verizon facilities in the Metroplex were alerted and instructed to take appropriate measures. Employees are reminded to ensure the security of our facilities by reporting any suspicious activity to Verizon security representatives.

I stood at the window near my 11th floor cubicle and watched as the people evacuated the building, the police taped off the parking garage, and the fire vehicles pulled up. Someone said that there had been a bomb threat over there, but it didn’t look that way to me. Not based on the number of police present, the complete lack of fire trucks, and no apparent bomb squad on site. In addition, the amount of people that evacuated the building didn’t appear to be enough to constitute every individual that works in that building.

I got a ticket at 11:20pm Sunday night from the Airport police in the Grapevine jurisdiction. 80 in a 55. I was about 200ft north of the end of the ramp to 121N/635E coming from 114E. The fucker said he paced me. You can’t take that ramp any faster than 65. Believe me, I’ve tried. To top it all off, the guy was a real asshole. And I know how to treat cops… believe me, I’ve been pulled over, detained, arrested, and ticketed enough times to know how to handle the situation to ensure the best possible outcome, aside from fellating him right after I bend over.

Watch out for officer C. Flor (ID. 621, Div. P). He’s an asshole.

I had been doing so well, too. No tickets in at least a year.

This will be about $250.

Got my hair cut. Took off about two inches. I think it looks really good.

I also got my oil changed, which my truck was in dire need of.

I am getting my haircut. I have an appointment in thirty minutes. It has been well over a year since my last hair cut. I am not sure how short I am going to cut it. Maybe just an inch or so off… maybe all the way up to my neck.

We’ll see, I guess.

I’m nervous.

Wah. Home way too late. We went to “Fogo De Chao” and then to “The Cavern” and then to “Cafe Brazil”. All in all we had a good time. Oh, Farris. BTW, your girl? You know number 14? Her name is Mary. Just thought I’d let you know.

I’m at main street internet with x_devious> and several other people I don’t know (JJ, Dan, Amber, and Amber’s boyfriend). Open Mic night is not too good tonight. The first act was a few keyboards, a drum kit (which I never saw played) and a couple girls dancing and singing. Decent scenery, but I could do without the music. Now, one of the guys that works here is playing… and I have heard him several times. He is not bad… but certainly not worth staying for. and I are considering going over to Club Clearview to see Chomsky.

I haven’t updated much lately. Way too busy I guess.

Then I will head home, change clothes, make myself reasonably presentable, throw in a load of laundry, eat something, and then head out to m@in street internet for Open Mic Night with and a few other people I don’t know (, , and Colleen). We’re gonna have a good time, so if any of you feel like coming out send me a text page with your number and I’ll give you a call… or just text page me and let me know what time you will be there so we know to wait for you if we decide to go some place else… or… if you can’t make it… text page me with something interesting and be there in spirit.

I forgot it was on tonight amidst helping jaclyn get ready for her trip tomorrow… and I need to see this for myself.
