coming down

I am unreasonably tired.

I am trying to concentrate enough to answer incoming phone calls and e-mails with out letting my subconscious take over my mouth or fingers and blurt out a quiet "fuck you".

Bowling tonight. That makes me happy, especially if I do well. jaclyn is going to come to cheer us on.

Right after work I have to go to my apartment office with sn0w_cr4sh> and and start the papers to get the lease changed over from his name to hers. Everything seems like it is going to work out well though.

Father's Day was a lot of fun. My dad's BIG present was a new barbecue grill. The man loves to cook, and even more than that, he loves to grill. As I am, he is addicted to cooking shows. In honor of all this, my mom went a bit overboard as she usually does. She set up an event, similar to "Iron Chef" but without the competition, in which the "kids" cook a meal under a stopwatch. Since I am the most cooking inclined of the siblings, I took to lead role in making certain everything got done. The most difficult portion of the meal we cooked was that we were including potatoes on the kabobs with the steak. I suggesting preboiling the potatoes to make sure we wouldn't end up with hard potatoes or overdone meat. My mom intervened and said it wasn't needed. It was. So the meat was a little overcooked, but my fresh oregano, olive oil, dill and garlic marinade was wonderful. My brother was incredibly proud of the watermelon he carved for the fruit salad. Jaclyn came along, and spent most of her time doing the, often unpraised, task of chopping EVERYTHING that needed chopping. All in all, I would say we did pretty well.

We drove to my parents house and back in jaclyn's Miata (I drove, of course). On the way there it was a bit hot, but on the way home it was a beautiful drive. There is something freeing about zipping along at 80 mph with the top down, good music pounding your ear drums, and the sun just setting behind you.

Jaclyn and I went Garage Saleing on Saturday, and found a couple good buys. Since we were in the area, Jaclyn was a good sport and agreed to visit my parents for a little bit.

My father, my brother, peener and I are going canoeing next weekend. We will leave Friday morning and get back sometime Saturday night. It will be a much needed break from the whirrs and clicks of the life that constantly surrounds me.

All in all, I had a great weekend. One of those weekends that makes you wonder why you can't just quit your job and hitchhike your way across a foreign country for the next couple of years.
