expense reports, christmas plans, and Amelie

Today was a pretty good day. It didn't start out that way, but then again, they never do. I came home at about 11:30am to look for a receipt for some stuff I bought for the server room at work 6 months ago. I had never been reimbursed for it, and tomorrow is the last day to get stuff in for 2001 expenses.

I found it almost immediately. I save everything, and new it would come in handy some day. Instead of heading straight back to work, I stayed at home for a couple hours. I made a pizza, and I worked on a script to synchronize all of my LiveJournal entries into a MySQL database. After that was working properly, I headed back to work.

I filled out my expense report, answered a few emails, and worked a little on a project that is due next week. I left work around 5:30. On my way home I talked to Joel on the phone. It is a good thing traffic was slow or I would have wrecked from laughing so hard.

I got home, ate leftover pizza and did a load of laundry. I watched the "Lord of Flies" episode of "The Simpsons" while the laundry washed. At 7:30pm I realized there was no way it was going to finish drying in the next 15 minutes, and that I may as well pull my laundry out slightly damp and wear it that way.

I got to the CC's around 8:00pm to find the whole gang there. Sara (the coffee girl) lightly punched me on the shoulder to say "hi". I haven't gotten coffee at CC's in quite sometime. It was nice to see her, and to see that she still remembered me.

After a little bit, Amy showed up. It was very nice to see her again too. I really wish she lived closer so that we could all hang out a lot more often. The past month or so I have been visiting with her through the stories Joel would tell about her from work.

I shared pictures with the group for a bit. Then we took turns going outside while the remaining members of the group discussed what they were going to get the person outside for Christmas. I am buying for Jaclyn and Wes is buying for me.

After the the present talk was over, we sat around and talked for a bit. Then Wes, Joel, Emily, Amy and I went to see Amelie. Wes bought my ticket because I am broke.

Amelie was one of the greatest movies I have seen in a long time. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It is in French with English subtitles… but even if that sort of thing bothers you, it is well worth it.

Justin borrowed my Acoustic Guitar in exchange for his Danelectro. The first thing I did when I got home was hook it up to my computer to see how it sounded. BEAUTIFUL. I need one. So easy to play. So nice sounding. I'm not sure what they cost, but I am going to look into it tomorrow.

I recorded me playing it… so I could hear how it sounded without actually having to play it at the same time. In doing so, I started writing a song. I wouldn't hold my breath, but I might have something to share in a few days. Of course musically, the song will be rather simple, because I am not capable of much more at this point, but I think it would be nice to have something to claim as my own.
