storage facilites suck
March 25th, 2002Okay… I've just started calling around looking for storage facilities. It looks like it is going to cost me just under $110 a month, for a non climate controlled room, and right around $125 a month for climate controlled. I will need the room for 4, possibly 5, months. This is a price range of $440 - $600.
Is the shit I will be putting in the storage room worth that much? Just barely.
- a beat up, stinky, old couch that has sat in my garage for over a year
- a coffee table that I really like
- two end tables that I really like
- a nice oak desk that I have had since I was little and currently have no use for since it isn't deep enough to keep a computer on and isn't high enough to fit a nice office chair underneath
- my meth lab
- a second computer desk, that isn't worth more than $75. It is very old, but very sturdy. Its nothing special, but it makes a great second desk when you have more than one computer
- a dining room table and four chairs
- a big wooden spool stolen from some French bastards backyard
- darkroom equipment
- pots, pans, glasses, cups, vases, dishes, knifes, tupperware, and various other kitchen storage equipment
- pictures and other wall hangings
- a washing machine
- a dryer
- my futon
- jaclyn's futon
- jaclyn's red chair
I've had an offer from someone to buy one of my futons for $75. Hopefully, the second futon will fit in my new living room to give us more sitting space. Brad and Morgan have offered to buy or hold my washer and dryer. Bonnie (via Justin) has offered to hold my washer and dryer, and Joel and Emily have offered to hold my dryer.
As far as the furniture goes, I want new stuff. The next time I move I am fairly certain that I will be buying nice new furniture. I have a closet that can hold MANY boxes, so that takes care of a lot of the little things that I want to hold on to but don't have a place for. So really… it's just the furniture type items that I need to find a place to store, sell, or otherwise get rid of.
Anyone have any suggestions?
