Now that's service!!
April 10th, 2002My primary domain, inkshop.org, expires in 2 days. My previous registrar, RegisterForLess, is currently not functioning, so I was looking for another OpenSRS affiliate to renew through.
Yesterday I went to namesarecheap.com (intentionally not made an active line) to renew. I paid them $14 and expected the work to be done. It was not. The domain was not transfered, my email was not responded to, my calls were not returned.
Fearing that I would lose my domain, I searched for another registrar today. I found TheNIC (a consumer.net company). I was a bit worried. Their website doesn't look too pretty, and I was afraid that it wouldn't make it through and that this shop may have been abandoned, but I took a chance. The registration was handled a bit oddly, and my payment was processed in a weird fashion, so I decided to email them to make sure everything went through okay. Before I could finish my email, I had a message from OpenSRS letting me know a transfer had been requested. I approved the transfer and then logged into the OpenSRS domain management site. I was pleased to find that, not only had inkshop.org been transfered properly, but the 6 other domain names I registered went through PERFECTLY.
Yay for good customer service. By the way the registration worked, I am fairly certain that TheNIC's processes are not completely automated. So, it is even more impressive that this was handled by an actual person and all completed within 15 minutes. I am very impressed.
If you need to register a domain name, I strongly suggest TheNIC. At only $12.95/yr (and cheaper if you register more), it is a great deal.
