Whoever picked the world up and flipped it upside down, please don’t ever put it back.
This morning at 6:30am, my alarm went off. I got up, sat on the computer for about 30 seconds, reset my alarm for an extra 30 minutes of sleep and went back to bed.
I use my computer as an alarm, because I’d much rather wake up to Jack Johnson than the constant beep beep beep beep of my alarm clock.
The next time I woke up, it was 8:26am. Uh oh. I check my computer. Xmms is using 100% of the CPU, and not actually doing anything For the non-geek: my computer broke, so my alarm didn’t go off the second time at 7:00am.
I called my boss to tell him I was going to be late. Of course, he asked “Why?”.
“I messed up. My alarm didn’t go off, and I over slept.”
Then, he exerts proof that the world has been flipped over. He says, “Well, how about this? How about you work from home in the morning, and then work from here this afternoon. That way you can start work now, and you’re not late?”
I blinked. Then I blinked again.
“Will that work?”
“Uh… Yeah, yeah. That’ll work just fine.”
“Okay, good. Make sure you change your voicemail message so people will know how to get a hold of you. Now I’d like to talk to you about a new project.”
I blinked.
“I’m wanting to… ,” he begins to speak of his plans for a new application he wants me to build. At the end of the call he says, “Okay, Dan. Thanks a lot, and I’ll see you around 1pm”
I think I stayed on the phone for five more minutes after he hung up. Just listening to the silence. It made more sense than this.
I’m still lost.
