Apartment Hunt
June 21st, 2002This is mostly for Jess, but I figure you all might have some insight into these as well. If you know anything about any of these places, anything about the area they are in, if you've ever lived there, or know someone who has, please let me know.
Also, if you have anything to add (including just your opinion) regarding these choices that might make one look better (or worse) than the rest, I'd love to hear it.
Also, if you know of other places aside from these that are under $800 and have enough space for one bedroom and several computers, let me know.
Lewisville (north)
The Villas at Waterchase

This is laid out pretty well. Roomy living room. Nice master bedroom area. Plenty of room. Fireplace. It's a bit old, and a bit further north than I'd like, but it's not bad.

This is a beautiful floorplan. The bedrooms are good sized. Big living room. Big kitchen. HUGE patio. Bar area with the kitchen. Fireplace (in a slightly bad spot).

Nice garden tub. Open living room, which makes the fireplace placement even worse. Dining room area could be used as a computer room since there is a nice sized bar at the kitchen and the living room might even be big enough to hold the dining room table in the corner. Garden tub.

Fireplace is optional. Small bar at the kitchen. Good sized living room. Lots of windows in the dining room making it a shame to be used as a computer room, thought it could be. Nice bedroom. Two sinks in the bath room with a garden tub. Big patio.

This has a sunroom. Cool. I've always wanted a sunroom. Small bar at the kitchen. Two small bathrooms. Laid out well. Fireplace in an okay spot. I can't tell how big it is, because the rooms aren't labeled. I like this place though.

Living room seems small. I can't tell because the sizes aren't labelled. Only one bathroom (which is good.. why do we need two?) I like the layout of this a lot. Everything is placed very well and very little space is wasted.

Irving / Valley Ranch

Interesting floor plan. It has a breakfast nook AND a dining room, which means the dining room could be used for computers and such. Large living room. Two sinks in the bathroom. Fireplace.

This is a GREAT floor plan. Island in the kitchen. Two balconies. Nice sized living room. Nice sized bedroom. Fireplace out of the way of the living room. Very well done. My only complaint is that the bathroom is kind of small, closet space is VERY limited, and it's only got one bedroom. Additionally, I'd be paying almost $1/sqft for a place that was built in 1985. It's not exceptionally nice looking outside or inside, so I'm not sure why it costs so much.

This floor plan is still decent. No Island. Only one balcony. Smaller living room. Fireplace kind of in the way. Small bathroom. No closet space. I still don't understand why this place is so expensive. Isn't the cost per square foot supposed to go down, at least a bit, when the apartment increases in size? I don't understand this at all.

Big Bedroom. Big Living Room. Big Dining Room. Big closet. Big kitchen. Small bathroom. Fireplace in a good spot. If only this place had ONE more bedroom. However, the dining room could be used as a computer room as the breaskfast bar is in a really good spot.

It's hard to read the floor plan, so I don't know for sure what the room sizes are. This place looks great though. Small kitchen, but I'll learn to cope. Some wasted space in the "dressing room" area of the bathroom (and I hate wasted space). Fireplace. Right on the Mandalay Canal in the heart of Las Colinas.

This is cool. The dining room table can go in the breakfast nook leaving the HUGE dining room to be for computers. The living room is large, with a poorly placed fireplace. The bedroom seems big, though it's hard to tell because the sizes aren't labelled. Garden Tub. BIG kitchen. I like this place.
