apartment woes
June 24th, 2002I talked to the Mansions at Coyote Ridge in regard to their claims of extensive damage done by Jaclyn and I to our apartment prior to move out and the $1351.30 in damages they are claiming we did.
My first complaint was that I received two letters from them, one stating I owed $651.30 and showing an itemized list of charges and the existence of $900 in deposits that were made. The second letter stated that it would go on my credit in 10 days and that I owed $790.30. I asked her to explain the discrepancy and she stated that it must have been a computer error and that what I owe is $651.30.
My second complaint was that, while I agree that the amounts she is charging me are reasonable for the tasks being performed I do not believe that those damages were present when I left the apartment on March 31st and I do not believe that those tasks were ever performed on the apartment. She told me that the chief of Maintenance performs the walk-through herself and that, with damage this extensive, pictures will have been taken. She's going to see if she can get the pictures and will call me this afternoon or tomorrow. The nice thing is, haphazardly, I took pictures of my own as we were leaving. I'd like to see how her pictures match up to mine.
She claims that it was a good thing I called because it was going to go on my credit tomorrow. But she'll stop it for now until we can get on the same page (oh isn't that nice of her). We'll see how this pans out.
One thing is for certain. I am doing the move-out walk-through with the apartment complex from now on. I just don't trust those bastards any more.
