I almost forgot to tell you: She said August. AUGUST!
July 11th, 2002:
no more
No more long, pensive drags on cold mornings before the sun has wiped the sleep from his eyes.
I think Bonnie said it best, long, long ago: it’s like a friend. A good friend. A friend that is always there during the hard times to pick you up, show you the clear path, and hold your hand as your struggle and walk down it. A friend that is always there during the good times to laugh with you. A friend that was there for all the milestones. A friend that all your old friends are still friends with. A friend that’ll hang out with you, regardless of what time it is, when he has to work in the morning, or wheter you have something important to say, or if you’d rather just sit there and not say anything at all.
And now I’ve lost this friend and I have no replacement.
doctor
For those of you who were concerned or curious, my doctors appointment went just fine.
I had a small cyst behind my ear that, according to the doctor is totally harmless and fairly common. Regardless of that fact, I opted to have it removed, which ocurred yesterday. It took about 40 minutes, and was done while I was conscious. It required one stitch which I have to get removed in a week. It’s my first stitch, actually, so I’m considering naming it. Any suggestions?
The procedure itself was painless, and my doctor’s bedside manner was great. I’m in some pain now, but I guess that can be expected after having a one inch cut made in your neck. Supposedly I can take the band-aid off and get it wet this morning, but I am afraid to. I’ll probably put a band-aid back on it for one more day, just to be safe.
corporate rats
My dreams get down right twisted at times like this.
There is a guy at work that I’ll call ‘m’. He’s one of the “cool” guys. He’s a manager over a large system and many people look up to him because of the number of hours he puts in and the supposed quality of work his group churns out. I know better than that, but that’s beside the point. He has short hair all the way around except for a very thin strand of hair that hangs down past his mid-back and is always braided. As far as “rat-tails” go, this is by far the best I’ve ever seen.
At any rate, ‘m’ was in my dream. For some reason, he had a very nice all wood fretless 5 string bass up at work that didn’t have any hardware on it. The face of it was completely empty. In my dream he claims to be a very good bass player, yet, he doesn’t seem to know where ANY of the hardware goes. And I, not being a bass player at all, end up helping him place all the pieces.
Then he flips the guitar over, and there is a computer motherboard in the back of it. The motherboard is missing TONS of pieces, like the IDE acceptors, and the PCI slots. There is a plastic bag taped to the back of it that has all these parts in it, and somehow, they just snap in like Legos. ‘m’ doesn’t know where any of this hardware goes either, so I help him put it all together as well.
Then I wake up.
