moving plans.
July 12th, 2002Time to get my butt in gear.
I'll take a shower, get dressed and then load up the truck. Wait… let me check the weather. There is a 30% chance of rain, and it increases as the weekend moves along, so today is better than any other. I'll load up the truck with all of the boxes that are already packed and the pieces of furniture that are already broken down. Then I'll put my computer in the front seat (hard drives removed, thank you very much), and head out to the new place. I'll park in the garage, and go sign the lease. Then I'll move my truck as close as I can to the front door, and I'll bring in all the stuff I brought. Then I'll go inside, lock all the doors, and take off all of my cloth… wait… let's skip this part. Then I'll lock up and drive back here. On the way, I'll stop at WalMart to get a new set of ratcheting straps, and the set I have now are just about on their last leg. Then I'll start packing up what's left of my bedroom, making a pile of boxes out in the living room as I go. I'm not going to bring ANY dirty laundry to the new place, so I'll put load after load into the washer until I get it all done while I am packing. As soon as I get everything packed up, I'll bring that load over to the new apartment. On this trip, I'll put my home theater equipment in the cab of the truck. After I unload it, I'll call the people who offered to help if they haven't called me already (my dad, Brad, Justin). Then, when one of them is ready, we'll load up the truck with my bed, my couch, my dresser, and my entertainment center and take that as a load of it's own.
That will be a pretty good first day. Three nice big loads and all of the important furniture and things.
Then, over the next couple of days/weeks, I can finish scraping together the little things, finish doing the laundry, and clean up all the remaining mess that I made.
If I can stick to this plan, this will be my easiest move yet and the one needing the least amount of assitance from my friends. Let's see how it goes.
