After many months of consideration regarding the various weblogging applications available, and never forgetting the possibility of rolling my own, either for my use or to contribute to the community, I've decided to use Movable Type for the time being. I looked over many existing applications and, while Movable Type didn't do EVERYTHING I wanted (and, in fact, did many things exactly the opposite of the way I wanted them done), it came closer than anything else did.
My LiveJournal site will remain intact. Unless I have a good reason not to, content that is published here will be syndicated there automatically. This means that those of you who prefer to continue being notified of my updates via LiveJournal can continue to do so.
At this point, I'm not entirely certain what kind of content will appear in this space. It would be safe to assume that the same blend of personal anecdotes, technical news, poetry, life updates, interesting links, photography, and web programming commentary you are used to receiving will be continued here. I hope, in this new location, to be able to separate those various content types in order to allow you, my readers, to better control what you do and do not read.
This site is a living, breathing creature. Its skin might change. Its features might change. Its content might change. Its structure might change. Comments on these changes are always welcome and, until a better method is constructed, are accepted via email.
Depending on how ambitious I get, all of the LiveJournal entries, the more important LiveJournal entries, or none of the LiveJournal entries will be migrated to this space. Regardless of what moves, and what does not, I will do everything in my power to ensure that all of the old URLs still function, and, at the very least, provide forwarding information to its new location. Additionally, should I ever replace MovableType as my publishing engine, I will again do everything in my power to ensure that all links remain valid. Therefore, you can feel safe to reference, bookmark, or link to the URLs found here.
