An emergency meeting has been called at work for 10:00am this morning. When asked what the meeting is about, my boss replies with, "You'll find out when everyone else does."
Knowing that we have to elimnate another 4300 in equivalent headcount before year-end doesn't make this any easier. Add to that the fact that we've already cut out all the contractors, possibile candidates for retirement, and overtime hours that are possible when we eliminated 15700 people in the first 2 quarters of this year, 3000 of which ended up being real people with real jobs and real families, and I'm very scared.
The only thing that brings me any relief is the fact that, regardless of what happens to me, Jess is still coming down. And while two mouths are harder to feed on no income than one, I honestly don't think I could make it without her.
