weekend in review

Well, I got some of my weekend plans accomplished.

I cleaned out my truck. Took the computer out of the back seat, and the card table out of the truck bed. It's a little messy again now, but it's just trash.

I tried to get my truck washed. Brad and I drove for about 40 minutes looking for a carwash place. We figured we'd run into one, to no avail. So I called Matt to see if he knew where one in the area was, but he didn't He was kind enough to look online for me and gave me the location of two of them. Brad followed me to the first which brought us down a road that led into a managed housing community complete with gate arms and a 24 hour guard. Needless to say, we weren't allowed in there. The second set of directions brought us deep into Valley Ranch where we ended up at a nice little park. Still no car wash. We were both getting hungry and gave up. Then, yesterday, Brad and I looked one up online and drove to it. It, of course, was closed. So, the truck never got washed. I'm considering doing it today during lunch when I go to pay my rent and Jaclyn's rent.

Joel and I put the old stereo back into my truck… twice. The first time, since I knew the stereo worked, I didn't bother to try to turn it on until I had the dash back on my truck. That was a mistake. It didn't work. At all. No power even. It was late, and we didn't feel like taking it apart again, so the next day, I returned to Joel's place to try it again. After taking the dash off and pulling out the stereo I realized what the problem was. You have to hook up those little wire things on the back of it if you expect it to work. Truly, I did connect the harness to the stereo, but apparently I didn't push until it clicked, because it slid right back out when I stuffed it back into the dash. It works just fine now, and I am grateful that I don't have to needlessly spend $100+ dollars on a CD player so that I can sell my truck.

I washed all the bagged laundry except one bag and four other bags that I decided should go straight into storage and didn't need washing (things like my high school letter jacket, and a bag full of old blankets). I also did several loads of unbagged laundry. Unfortunately, I didn't fold any of it, so there is a giant pile of clean laundry in my room now. Anyone want to have a fold-daniel's-laundry party tonight?

I went to Target and Wal-Mart and Kohl's and Linens-and-Things. I found a new set of pots and pans and a set of knifes at Target. I didn't like the knives, so I brought them back. The pots and pans are wonderful. I've never owned a better set. Joel even managed to talk the Customer Service desk into giving me 10% off of them, for no real reason. That was nice. I found the linens I want at Linens-and-Things. It looks as though they will cost me $180. Since I am broke right now, I'm going to hold off on them. I also looked at knives there, and found a great set of J.A. Henckels that I wanted, but they were far too expensive for me to afford. Henckel has a "Classic" line that is not as good as the "Four Star" and "Professional S" series, but certainly good enough for me. I went to Kohl's and found two knives from the "Classic" series that I liked on sale and decided to purchase them. They are wonderful.

I got my haircut, too. Unfortunately, she cut it a bit short all around, and way too short in the front. I tried to save money by going to a cheaper place (MasterCuts). I regret doing so now.

I didn't take the boxes out of the closet. Therefore, I didn't move the stuff from my bedroom and from the den into the closet. I also didn't put new wiper blades on my truck. I'm going to do the boxes tonight. I'll do the wiper blades tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get my stuff done.
