Jess and I were a bit alarmed when we got a very large package back from BCIS (formerly INS) today. Holding our breaths, we opened the package together to find a short note from them indicating that we have not paid the proper fees along side all of our 1.7 pound application that we submitted last Monday. They claim that the fingerprinting fee is $50, even though all of the forms and information online (which I checked again immediately afterwards) state that it is $25.
So, we’ll get a new money order for $50, repackage our application and send it out again on Monday. At least they told us in a moderately quick fashion. It’s only been 4 days since they got it, it took a day for it to sit in their outgoing mail bin, and a day to get to me. That means it only took them two days to respond.
Wish us luck.
