Packet8

I've decided that, instead of a regular, analog telephone, I'd try VoIP this time around. Specificially, I looked for a device that would allow me to use regular telephones with my broadband internet connection. After reviewing the available options, I decided to go with Packet8. The setup charge is $49.90, but I have a code to get $20 off (let me know if you need it). The package I've chosen is $19.99/mo and it includes UNLIMITED calls on the Packet8 network, and Unlimited PSTN (that means regular telephones of regular people) calls to the US and Canada. The techonlogy they use is a version of SIP modified to work behind a NAT firewall (which most anyone who has a home-router uses, even if they don't know it).

They offer a 30-day money back trial (just pay for shipping to send it back), so I figured I can't go too wrong.

I'll let you know more as soon as I get my equipment. Based on the UPS Tracking information I should get it next Tuesday.
