I really don't have the time for this now, but I don't see any other option. My current webhosting provider, Dathorn, is threatening to disable my account indefinately. They feel I am using excessive system resources with a process named "vim". What's happening is this:

If "vim" is being used in an ssh connection, and that connection is not closed properly (i.e. modem disconnect, loss of WiFi access, etc) the ssh connection remains open (which it should not) and the vim process consumes massive resources (which it should not). The last time you complained, I figured out what caused it, and have begun killing the process off whenever it happens. This means I have to log back in, find the process and kill it by hand. Additionally, "kill" is not good enough to end it. It requires "kill -9″.

I've had MANY web-hosting providers before this one, and operate many servers of my own for my day job and have never had this problem with any of them. Regardless of whether he repairs his system or not, being able to edit files on the server using "vim" is functionality that I require. And I cannot run the risk of having my accounts suspended indefinetly.
Therefore, I need to find a new provider. I don't really have the time or patience to deal with moving right now, but I don't seem to have any other choice.

So… once again I'm looking for suggestions.

I currently pay about $25/mo for this service. It includes 3GB of diskspace and 45GB of bandwidth. The servers are hosted in the data center of theplanet in Dallas, TX.

I'm considering co-locating an entire machine. Would anyone be willing to host with me in order to offset my costs. I'm sure I can give you anything your current hoster is giving you for about $10 - $20/mo. I'm not looking to make money, just cover the, approx., $100/mo cost of co-locating an entire server.

If you know of a good webhosting company with the above features, or if you would like to host with me should I get an entire server, please comment. Thanks.
