3650 and email attachments

As you can see from this previous post, I can now send images and text from my phone directly to my weblog. Unfortunately, the 3650 doesn’t have any concept of a MIME-Type. All of the attachments are of type "application/octet-stream". So, I had to update my moblog script to detect such attachments and look for ".jpg" in the "filename" to know whether it is an image or not.

Apparently, it works much better if you send a "Multimedia message". However, with such a message, a subject cannot be sent. Additionally, my access plan with AT&T wireless apparently doesn’t allow MMS messages to be sent by me. That’s just silly.

Regardless, it works. Stay tuned for more.

test from 3650

This is a test.

5 days…

It only took me 5 days to KILL my new Nokia 3650. I had installed, uninstalled, and hacked so many things that it was horribly slow and wouldn’t accept new installations because certain other things weren’t removed properly. So, I did a factory reset of all the system software by typing "*#7370#". This could also be done by going to "Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> General ->  Orig. Phone Settings". Now, the phone works great…. as long as the MMC isn’t in. As soon as I pop the MMC in, all I get is SYSTEM ERROR after the phone boots.

Doh!

Luckily, I found that if you hold down the pencil when booting, you’ll boot into safe mode. From there, you can go to "Menu -> Extras -> Memory -> Options -> Format mem. card" to format the memory card. Now, it’s like I have a brand new phone. Time to start all over. :)
