I’ve lived in Texas for 9 years and, in all the time, I’ve never been the subject of the oh-so-common “person in a field of bluebonnets with sun blazing on his face” bluebonnet picture. And with Jess being Canadian, she never has either. So, we decided to go out and take them ourselves, today.
I’m not very photogenic. Not only am I slightly overweight and always making a horrible face at the wrong moment, but my eyes are deep in my face, leaving me, genereally, with black circles where my eyes should be. Couple that with the fact that I had to run into place before the self-timer fired and you’re almost assuring failure. None the less, I did the best I could.
I tried to use a fill flash to help keep my eyes from being so dark. That ended up back firing by leaving glare on my glasses. I was better off without it. However, the small LCD of the camera wasn’t enough to show me that there was a glare, so, I ended up shooting almost all of the shots using the fill flash. Ooops.
Of course I also refuse to do the standard “people in the middle, squinting in the sun, bluebonnets all around” shot. So, I tried to spice it up a bit. I’m not incredibly happy with them, but they’re better than nothing. Jess and I rarely take pictures of one another. All of our relatives have been begging for a photograph. I’m sure this will make them all very happy.
