jimCAM

Another thing of note: the “jimCAM”:http://revjim.net/cam/ has been revived.

It pretty much sucks right now. I use a chunk of javascript to give you a constantly refreshing view from the webcam. The webcam is old and image it produces is horrible. I’m talking Jess into letting me buy a new and better one. I’m sure the cheapest one on the market today is better than this thing.

I intend to provide more options in the near future. Still images, smaller images, and ones that refresh a little bit slower. But, until then, enjoy.

I’ll leave it on most of the time. If it isn’t on, you’ll see a broken image, for now. Sorry about that. Like I said, it’ll all be better in the future.

friends, and friends of friends… converse

Under Brad’s suggestion, I’ve created an IRC channel for our group of friends. I know, an IRC channel is quite a nerdy thing to have, but, many of us have moved away, work long hours, or just don’t have time to get together any more. However, we constantly have lots of private conversations via various IM networks throughout the day. I figure, if we all get in one room and say what we’ve got to say, we’ll keep in touch even more.

Sure, we could have just used #revjim on irc.freenode.net. But that tends to be a technical channel full of geek topics. I’m sure geek topics will occur on this new channel as well, but, hopefully, less frequently and, if it does, it’ll lean more towards the “cooler” geek conversations. Additionally, #revjim is on the FreeNode network which, really, is dedicated to Software Projects of a Free and Open nature. #revjim, really, shouldn’t be there. It was just out of laziness that it is.

For those of you that don’t have an IRC client, I’ve provided a web based client for your use. Additionally, in order to assist those of us in… monitored situations, this client is provided over an SSL connection.

The new channel is #chupacabra on irc.blitzed.org. I selected this network because it’s relatively small, seems to be stable, and provides basic services. Other networks will be considered, so I’m open for suggestions. I’d prefer a network that offered SSL IRC connections for those of use that prefer to use our own clients, and are still… monitored.

So, if you are, were, or wish to be a member of the crowd… visit “https://inklog.net/chat/”:https://inklog.net/chat/, or fire up your IRC client of choice.
