Yesterday’s trip to the Trinity and more

Our trip to the Trinity was fun, but not exactly as we planned. Justin M came with us and mentioned, when we arrived at his house, that the river was 7+ ft above flood level. I knew the river was flooded due to all the recent rain, but I didn’t know how much. I also didn’t realize just how much water 7+ ft above flood level is. A lot!

We never found the locks. They were most likely well under water. We tried two different trails. Both times we ended up very hot and sweaty standing in front of a lake of water that wouldn’t normally be there.

After stopping at Sonic for some much needed Cherry Limeade refreshment, we went back to Justin’s house and looked at some ariel photographs of the area. It looks like we got pretty close, once, but not quite. And we never did go exactly the right way.

Regardless, I had a good time. We ended up having dinner there (thanks to the other Justin): Talapia.. which I really liked. And I don’t like fish. Then we rented and watched a movie (“Contaminated Man”, Justin M’s pick… I don’t recommend it at all) and spend the rest of the night goofing off over a few drinks. Bonnie almost flashed me. Almost.

We got home around 1am. Then I spent another hour getting the new webcam up and running. It looks a lot better than the old one. I took a chance when I bought this one, because I couldn’t find any mention on the Internet saying it did or didn’t work under Linux. It turns out, however, that the Creative Webcam Pro 8 has a OV511 chipset… which Linux has drivers for. I’m very happy with it.
