August 10th, 2004:
Another Attack
I still don’t have a place to put personal “journal” type entries… so, I’ll put this here, for now.
Yesterday I had another Meniere’s Attack. Or… at least that’s what the doctors tell me it is. When I was first diagnosed, I felt pretty sure they were right. I decreased my salt intake, and everything seemed to go away. Life was just about normal. But lately, despite my decreased salt levels, it’s been acting up more and more.
Most recently, it started on Sunday. I was a bit dizzy that morning. My ears had some pressure. I thought it might be allergy related, because my nose was stuffy too. Yesterday, however, when I got up, I felt good again. I went to work and ate very little throughout the day and nothing high in sodium at all. It started up again, however, in the afternoon, and by the time it was time to come home from work, it was pretty annoying. I took a Dramamine, which usually helps a little, and headed home. By the time I got home, however, it was almost unbearable. I decided to try to ignore it, and just live normally, hoping it would pass, so I had some dinner. After dinner, it was even worse, so I took another Dramamine and went to bed, hoping to sleep it off.
10 hours of sleep is a lot for me. So I didn’t sleep very well from about 2am until 5am when I finally woke up. However, getting out of bed brought the dizzys back again. I can only hope that I’m in the comming down phase and not the “since you tricked us yesterday by sleeping through it, we’re going to get you even worse today” phase. I took another Dramamine. We’ll see what happens.
