Sunday, September 12th is our big moving day. That’s two Sunday’s from now. I’ve rented a 17′ truck for the day, which should be enough to get it all in one load. I pick up the truck at 8:00am, and we hope to get started by 9:00am. I figure if we get started at 9:00am, we should have the truck loaded by 1:00pm. Sooner, depending on how many people help (my estimates are based on me, my dad and Jess for the loading). It’ll take 30 minutes to drive, and about 2 hours to unload getting us finished around 3:30pm. Then we start unpacking.
If you want to help, let me know. We’ll have donuts and coffee around 8:30am for the early risers. Drinks and snacks through the day, and Lunch at the new place just prior to the drive to the new place. More drinks and snacks through the unloading and unpacking process, and dinner and beer around 6:00pm if anyone’s still around by then. Jess does a very good job of packing and preparing everything to be loaded quickly and easily, so the actually loading part should be pretty easy. Our apartment’s on the first floor, and we intend to secure a few parking spots nice and close to the door the evening before to make it easier. The house is two story, but there isn’t too much that has to go up the stairs so, again, it should be pretty easy.
Jess is doing a little packing this weekend, and the majority of it throughout next week. I help as little as possible, because I really hate packing and do a terrible job of it. We’re going to save all the large packing and furniture dismantling for Saturday morning and afternoon. Although we’ve probably got enough help with Jess’ work and my… supervision (that’s a good name for the guy who packs one item every hour and otherwise just yacks a bunch, huh?), if you want to help out there, let me know.
