TiVo

I went to my Dad's house last night and setup the TiVo. What pissed me off was that, once the setup was finished I was able to read the "messages" left by the TiVo to me. Sure enough, on 8/30/2004 it detected a wireless USB apapter and was happy to let me set it up. Why it refused to let me use it for guided setup, I'll never know. Never the less, it works perfectly now, all the daily calls are going through the wireless ethernet, and it's very fast.

I like it already. It's very cool, very easy to use, and take 99% of the annoying things about TV and throws them out the window. I've already run into an issue where I wanted to record more than one thing at a time. Of course, it was easy to decide which was more important as, most of the recordings were just fluff to see the thing work, anyway. But still, I can really see the value of having two tuners, or two TiVo's entirely.

Hopefully, when we get home tonight, there will be a nice pile of recordings waiting for us.

A question for all you TiVo users, what record quality do you generally use? I've only recorded one thing and it was in "High" (one notch below the highest)… and it looked great. How much worse does it get if I go lower?
