We bought two of those coconut lined hanging baskets that look oh-so-nice out there on the porch. We filled them with a really long and thin variety of white petunia. They were beautiful. I watered them normally the first day and realized first thing the next day that that wasn't going to cut it. So, I started watering them a lot. Like… *a lot*. And *every* day. Satan sucked up all the water and they died anyway. Well. I'm not certain that they are dead, but they are quite crispy and despite three days of effort now, they don't seem to be willing to revive.
Those coconut liners dry out *fast*. They look fantastic though. I'm not sure if I should try to find another type of container to put in the hanging wire holder, or if I should just line the coconut liner with plastic and poke a few holes in the bottom. Air is good for soil, but that's a bit insane.
I'm sorrowful of the loss of them. They were such pretty plants and they did nothing but show their best side until the bitter end. They will always be remembered at their prettiest. *sniffle*
So… um. Do *all* outside plants that aren't in the ground need *that* much water? If so, I'm going to have to invent a system.
