GMail and Full Inbox Syndrome

I thought that “GMail’s”:http://gmail.com/ fast, friendly interface was to blame for my recent relapse in Full Inbox Syndrome. But, now that some time has passed, I think my interest in using the interface was actually what was driving that relapse because, now that using it is less interesting, I have an Inbox with 127 conversations awaiting a response.

Do me a favor? Email me and remind me to answer all my email. Offer a reward or something.

svk to the rescue… or not

I’ve got quite a few changes I’d like to make to the Typo blogging engine. Drastic changes that are unlikely to be accepted into the official Typo software partly because I don’t intend to waste any time dealing with the finer points of the consideration of uses other than my own. So, I thought I’d make my own version of Typo Called “TypeO+” (read: Type O Positive).

The easiest way to do this, of course, is to introduce “svk”:http://svk.elixus.org/ into the mix. I can link an SVK repository to both the official Typo SVN and a TypeO+ SVN. Additionally, I can create a 3rd SVN to version the actual website data and files used for my site. Getting new changes from Typo SVN is easy (unless my version becomes so heavily modified that their changes no longer make sense) and keeping TypeO+ offered the the public is also easy.

So… SVK it is then.

Except it doesn’t seem to work on my new host, “DreamHost”:http://dreamhost.com/. Ahhh the first nip from the nasty “I’m not managing my own server any more” bug.

The SVK install complains that the SVN installed on DreamHost does not have Perl bindings available and that I’ll need to install them. This, of course, means compiling SVN myself in a local (to my username) directory.

What a pain.

Taken at the Alamo in San Antonio, TX just before sunrise.

This image has been edited to remove the annoying orange cones that stand in front of the Alamo 24/7. Why don’t these people think of the photographers?! Jeez. :)

I really like the interesting twist the low angle on this shot provides.

My resources were pretty limited when taking this shot. Jess was with me and had brought her purse which I called “tripod” for the morning.

I like the way the center shoot and its shadow form a rounded division. I feel it plays with the eyes and keeps them moving.

revjim.net’s first 12-hour sale!

For the next 12 hours only, I’m offering this image in 4×6″ format for $4.50 or in 8×10″ format for $8. That’s half the usual dirt cheap price and includes shipping, handling, secure packaging, and the print itself. Additionally, I’m only selling 50 of each size at this price. When they’re gone, they’re gone. It’s a small experiment in Internet Photography sales, price point acceptance, and purchasing time constraints.

This is one of my most popular images, currently, and I’m offering it at the two most commonly purchased sizes. I had considered using a less popular image, but, I’m looking for the quickest take possible.

thanks for waiting

4×6 @ $4.50 SOLD OUT

8×10 @ $8.00 SOLD OUT

But these are still available at regular price on the photo sales page.

We’ll see how this goes. Tell your friends, and wish me luck.
