This is one of the two rock formations that make up the “Light House”. It’s a 6 mile hike in to this place. The absolutely silence in parts of the journey and the view from the top alone make it well worth every step.

Taken on the Light House trail of Palo Duro State Park, this 3 mile (each way) trail runs along the canyon floor winding through the peaks and then finds it way up the side of the Light House rock formation. This time of year these flowers (well, dying flowers) are everywhere. Other than the peaks themselves, most things out here aren’t taller than 12 feet or so, so to see these little guys pushing up almost to my chin is really neat.
