April 3rd, 2006:

To Laura and Joe

Congratulations to Joe and “Laura”:http://stick_figure.livejournal.com/ on their wedding this past Saturday. The location was beautiful, the food was great, and the party was a lot of fun. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Laura so giddy. I have a candid photograph of them from the wedding side-by-side with the biggest grins on their faces. It makes me very happy to see. Of all the people I know, Laura has always been so supportive, so genuine, so honest, and so caring to me. I’m very glad to see her this happy.

My best wishes to you both. May you each always have happiness in each others smiles, support in each others hands, understanding in each others eyes, and the messiest of beds.

daylight savings time

It’s *beautiful* outside, today: 78° and a nice breeze. I wish I were _out there_ “making photographs”:http://flickr.com/photos/revjim/sets/508086/ instead of being stuck _in here_ in front of a very boring computer monitor. Maybe someday that’ll be possible — especially with “your help”:http://djamesphoto.com/pages/donate, and “your support”:http://revjim.net/books/20054q-finding-place/, and your word of mouth.

Until then, however, I’m very grateful for “Daylight Savings Time”:http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/. Really! It gives me an extra hour after work each day to enjoy the daylight and take photographs. And, due to legislation put in place by President Bush on August 8th, 2005, daylight savings time will be four weeks longer starting in 2007. I can’t wait. Thanks, Gee Dubya.

I usually leave work somewhere between 3 and 6pm depending on what’s going on that day. With the sun setting just before 8pm at this time of year, that gives me 2 to 5 hours of daylight to work with. 2 hours is just enough to get some place and make a few decent images if I happen to work myself into a good spot. With 5 hours, I can afford to make a few mistakes and still end up with some great photographs.
