yesterday, today, and tomorrow: a new exercise

Far too often I've found myself wondering what I did on a certain day, or when I did a particular thing. On top of that it's good to get back into the habit of reflecting on the past, documenting the present, and planning for the future. To this end I've decided to attempt to write a brief update once a day (whenever possible) that will include a quick list of what I did that day as well as brief thoughts and gut reactions to those events, a quick recap of ongoing projects and goals, a detailed plan for the upcoming day, and a brief look at larger upcoming plans.

I'm not quite sure where to let this little exercise live. On one hand, I'd like the writing to be a bit protected so that I can document more personal things. However, keeping it entirely private isn't really important and even if the information did "get out", it certainly wouldn't be the end of the world. I'd use a filter on LiveJournal but LiveJournal isn't searchable which sort of defeats a large part of the purpose. I'd write in text files visible only to me, but I like sharing and I like feedback. I can dump it all right here at revjim.net, but my dear readers may find the content dry and uninteresting. So, as I see it, that leaves 3 options.

* A new LiveJournal or a LiveJournal community.
* A new website or subsite of this site devoted to the topic.
* A category on this site allowing readers to sort out what they want to read on their own.

Your thoughts?

  • I swear, dude, if you create another journal for this, I'll tear out your a-hole!
  • I like lists but people don't like reading them. Also I agree with Farris, don't create another journal. :)
  • Sarah
i have to disagree. i think this is a really cool idea and would make a good LJ community. I was actually thinking to myself as i read this, wow. that's a really coo idea. i would do that. i wonder if Daniel would be peeved if i ripped off his idea? so yeah. i think an lj community like that would be cool, because often times, you don't really know what your friends are up to on a regular basis. you only get a call or they only post when something big happens. anyway, enough blathering.
