Commenting From LiveJournal/OpenID
June 19th, 2006Several of my LiveJournal based readers have seen some issues with comments not showing up right away on *revjim.net*. In order to fix this, I've changed things a bit.
Instead of having to enter your LiveJournal information when you leave a comment, I've adapted my permissions system to allow you to log in to my site using your LiveJournal URL. This way, all the standard comment error messages will work for you as well.
It's easy. Just visit "my login page":http://revjim.net/wp/wp-login.php one time. When you get there, enter the URL to your LiveJournal (or any other valid OpenID URL), leave the password field blank and click *LOGIN*. You may see a page from LiveJournal (or your OpenID identity server) asking to authorize your identity to be sent to me. Choose the *YES, ALWAYS* option. Then, you'll be redirected to my site and never have to bother with it again.
This also has the added bonus of allowing me to produce filtered content on my site and allow access to it only to certain users.
Of course those of you who don't have a LiveJournal account or an OpenID server are welcome to simply "register at my site":http://revjim.net/wp/wp-register.php to get these same benefits.
It should be pretty painless. I've tested it quite a few times in several different ways. If it doesn't work for you, let me know.
