Have you considered hosting the images in varying folders on your own webspace? You can lock down folders to be password protected so that anything inside (including pages) are 'safe' from those without the usernames/passwords. I know we (the hosting company I work for) are working on galleries and wordpress on our products. I don't recall the ETA on delivery of those. It might be a bit of work to initially set up but then most of it (save the selling) could be done easily that way. You could also integrate a 'shopping cart' such as ShopSite (our preferred cart vendor) and use paypal to accept payment (this is a coming relase 8.1 Shopsite that is currently in integration testing for upgrade from 8.0 which is what we currently use). The initial set up is there but might make it a little easier on you in the long run...not sure if it meets your needs but solutions like that exist :)
