casualties of art

Sometimes during a photo session, everything doesn't go as planned. Sometimes, your model doesn't show up, or your set gets rained on, or the sky never clears up, or your background stand comes crashing down rendering it inoperable, your main studio light goes out and you don't have a backup, or any other number of possible problems. Even though you really can't plan for these things, you always have them running in the back of your head.

Other times, things happen that you would never imaging. Like during my photo session Saturday morning when two large horses decided that we were worth their attention. After attempting to stand on the couch we had placed in the field, they decided it might make a nice snack (as seen here).

Upset that it didn't taste as good as they expected, one of them then threw the cushions of the couch while the other knocked down my light stand (as seen behind them) breaking the foot on my flash and bending my umbrella. Then, if that wasn't enough, the couch cushion throw decided to sink his teeth into my camera bag and toss it around the pasture a bit.

Regardless of all of that, though, we got what we wanted. And, despite the trouble, the images are outstanding examples of Adrienne truly in her element. In the end, the images and the experiences are what matters most.

  • :D Love the horses. Horse photography for me would/has been impossbale so far. I'm just too... well, distracted by the horses to pick up the camera and take photos.

Part of me wants to see more pictures of them horsing around (nyuk) and some of me wants to see a pic of them freaking out when a flash goes off.
