October 8th, 2007:

does it get worse?

I don’t think today could get much worse.

On top of everything else, I got a bad disk. But I’m a good techno-weenie so I had a nice tasty backup nearby. I even had a spare disk in the closet. Unfortunately, Linux Volume Manager is not happy about the fact that I have a Physical Volume that no longer exists. So I had to install and learn EVMS just to be able to remove it.

Welcome to the 21st century, Jim.

So now it’s building an EXT3 file system on my replacement drive… I think.

If that goes well, I’ll restore the backup to the new drive.

We’ll see.

Save a different date!

Aside from the fact that 75% of my friends would like to be at Jet and Ryan’s movie marathon happening that same weekend that I tried to have the “Welcome Home” party, (I should have actually checked my schedule), some of my dearest friends can’t make it at all. So October 20th isn’t going to work. The 19th doesn’t work so well either.

The next weekend I’m sure someone is having a Halloween party. I’d make this a Welcome Home/Halloween party, but the Halloween party is Skwid’s thing every year and I wouldn’t even dream of competing with him.

So, how about Saturday, November 3rd?

Save The Date: Welcome back to Texas party!

UPDATE: This day isn’t going to work. How about this one instead?

Jess and I planning to host a “Welcome back to Texas” party. If the going away party wasn’t without enough purpose, this one will be filled with even less, and, in my mind, that makes it even better.

Tentatively we’re looking at the evening of Saturday, October 20th. If you can make it, a quick “aye” would be appreciated. More so, however, if this date conflicts with something else you have going on, please say so now or forever hold your piece (and your peace).

Also, since I have a new phone it’s fun time again. Send your favorite photo of yourself (or MY new potential favorite photo of you) to danielphone AT inklog DOT net so I can see your pretty picture every time I look in my address book or receive contact from you. Isn’t technology FUN!?!?
