you remember im the talking map. need any help and ill tell ya-- rule of thumb the train is almost always faster between the hours of 7am and 10pm.... too much damn traffic :) also, remember the freedom of first driving a car by yourself-- now you get to experience that feeling all over again as adult - freedom from the car :) and unless you are in a really really bad neighborhood (unlikely) dont be afraid to ask questions- i ask people for directions all the time, i feel like its the ones who look afraid to ask that are the tourists :)
oh, and i really love the last 3 pics, especially the one in the coffee shop-- speaking of which there is a starbucks on every corner here, so you should feel at home.

Will be there for a week starting Monday. I'm not all that scared... It's just strange to be there alone.

(sent via BlackBerry)

I was never afraid to walk anywhere in NYC when I lived in NJ. Just make sure you blend with the rest of the NYers and you'll be ok. Don't gawk, don't stare up at the buildings, look busy and act like you need to get somewhere fast with a 'don't fuck with me' look on your face. Don't wear that funny dork hat. If you do you'll get mugged. If you have to be somewhere on time take cabs. If you have time to explore take the subway but be careful down there. There's a heat wave up there now so the city is going to be very hot and miserable. How long will you be there?
