Feedback

First of all, I'd like to point out the fact that, I love comments. Even if just a "me too" or an "I like this" or a "I disagree" or a "stop being a douche". Just knowing that someone cared enough to read through something I've written makes me day.

Secondly, I'd prefer that you comment HERE on this site. When I write, a little stub get sent to LiveJournal. A notification also gets Tweeted. Friendfeed also picks it up. Facebook republishes my Friendfeed, but I also make it a point to "share" the link on my Facebook page too, so if there's a photo you all get to see a snippet of it. Some of you subscribe via email, so you read it that way. Most importantly I want comments. And if that means you write it on a cocktail napkin and mail it to me, then so be it. But, if you can be troubled to leave them HERE then I benefit from the fact that other people will read what you've written and maybe have something to say about it too.

Thirdly, I've integrated lots of ways to login to leave a comment so that it's easy. You can log in with Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal, Disqus, Yahoo, Google, or any OpenID provider.

Finally, I think my comments are broke right now, and this is a test to see if that is true.

Update: I figured out what was wrong with the comments. Feel free to leave one and test.

I understand what you mean. I always feel like I'm pandering when I ask for feedback though. Of course, asking for feedback doesn't actually do any good if no one is reading anyway...
  • Then again... if no one is reading or no one bothers to comment after
pandering, maybe it just isn't worth it. Ha.
  • Mwah!

Your bullshit is very well written, insightful and entertaining. We will definitely be reserving a seat for you when our ships return to Earth for a shift change. It would be nice however if it was easier to comment without logging in and all that stuff. Sometimes we think mailing you a comment on a cocktail napkin would be easier. :)
  • I *think* this thing lets you comment without logging in. I think.

Maybe not. I should probably poke around at it more often. I was just
SOOOOO tired of the Spam I got without it and being able to reply by
email is SOOO useful... that I didn't even think twice about
    switching.

I didn't know you could reply by email? Neat..would help if I actually read
    the whole email.
  • reply by email is really, really nice. It makes keeping up with
comments from a phone so much more possible.

We read every entry as it is required before archiving in your case file.
  • I'm glad someone is keeping up with my bullshit.
  • I disagree. ;)
  • Yeah. Well. Who needs you anyway? :)
  • I read every post :) I'll try and comment more though!

    Rob...
  • Awww. Thank you. That's really nice to hear.
  • Meh? And why am I "facebook null?" I think when I post the comment it links my profile number or something...
  • It does that to you because of your Facebook Privacy settings. Have a look at this for information on how to fix it:

  • Hmm. I'm not sure I want my profile to be viewable and searchable to people who haven't facebooked me, though. That public/private line that I haven't drawn clearly enough, though for facebook users I think it's just the pictures and the notes that I screen from non friends and peripheral friends.
  • Makes perfect sense.

But that's why my comments can't show your name or face, because you've forbidden them from the public.

You could always log in with Twitter instead, then you'd at least have a face. :)
  • Oh right, I have twitter!
  • Ta da! You have a photo! And even if you only have ONE eye, it's much more attractive than those two square eyes you had before. And your name is easier to pronounce. :)
